As a foreigner, as an intern, and as an individual, I have been so hospitably received at Schöck, from the first minute and onward. As in my last blog, my name is Nick Thorvaldsen and I am a civil engineering student from the University of Cincinnati. I write to you today on the experience I have had with Schöck thus far!
The below quote is from myself of my first day on the job, and from my own work journal:
“Everyone is so friendly, helpful and welcoming… Awesome workplace and interesting products! Many, if not all speak English and there is even a guy from England that cracked a hilarious quip today. It’s very international here, cha ching! I think it makes the office space way more accepting, tolerant, and cutting edge.”

Isokorb® has been installed in a $1.4 billion project in lower Manhattan. The project includes a fascinating oculus (oeil de boeuf), measuring at 110 feet (33.5 meters) tall and 53 feet (16 meters) diameter. This eye, protruding from the main building of the New York Fulton Street Transit Station, is designed to provide annual daylight to the atrium civic space below, while also catching the eye of the 275,000 daily passengers of the transit station.
In November, Schöck held a seminar titled, Sustainable Design Knowledge: A Closer Look at Structural Thermal Breaks, at the Center for Architecture in New York.
The event was sold out two weeks prior, with 34 architects arriving after a long day in the office, to learn more about thermal break solutions.
Schöck Isokorb® has been awarded Architectural Products, Product Innovation Award. The award recognizes architectural-related products with innovation and outstanding leadership in education, sustainability initiatives, and standards developments.

Letzte Woche fand in New Orleans die AIA National Convention & Design Exposition in New Orleans statt. Es war das erste Mal, dass wir uns in Amerika auf einer Messe präsentierten.
Auch deshalb war es für mich eine große Herausforderung, diese Messe von Deutschland aus zu organisieren.
