Baustellentour mit nordamerikanischen Kollegen

Am 22. und 23.08.2016 waren Jonathan Carreiro, im Team “Emerging Markets” zuständig für die USA und Kanada, und Brent Chancellor, Sales Manager New York, mit mir in Frankfurt auf Baustellen unterwegs. Install Update at the Tower at PNC Plaza

We must give the crew working the Tower at PNC Plaza some well deserved credit. The downtown Pittsburgh structure is climbing steady at 30% total progress, with completion of the structural steel more than half way done. See the progress on the Tower at PNC Plaza project website.

The installation of Isokorb® type CM in the concrete slab edges continues to progress as rebar and slab installation nears the 30th floor. The live construction camera shows the crew steady at work. … weiterlesen

Time and Schöck

As a foreigner, as an intern, and as an individual, I have been so hospitably received at Schöck, from the first minute and onward. As in my last blog, my name is Nick Thorvaldsen and I am a civil engineering student from the University of Cincinnati. I write to you today on the experience I have had with Schöck thus far!

The below quote is from myself of my first day on the job, and from my own work journal:

“Everyone is so friendly, helpful and welcoming… Awesome workplace and interesting products! Many, if not all speak English and there is even a guy from England that cracked a hilarious quip today. Destiny and Schöck

Isokorb® at the Top

Isokorb® has been installed in a $1.4 billion project in lower Manhattan. The project includes a fascinating oculus (oeil de boeuf), measuring at 110 feet (33.5 meters) tall and 53 feet (16 meters) diameter. This eye, protruding from the main building of the New York Fulton Street Transit Station, is designed to provide annual daylight to the atrium civic space below, while also catching the eye of the 275,000 daily passengers of the transit station.

Thermal Breaks in The Big Apple

In November, Schöck held a seminar titled, Sustainable Design Knowledge: A Closer Look at Structural Thermal Breaks, at the Center for Architecture in New York.

The event was sold out two weeks prior, with 34 architects arriving after a long day in the office, to learn more about thermal break solutions.

Erste Messe in Amerika war sehr erfolgreich!

Letzte Woche fand in New Orleans die AIA National Convention & Design Exposition in New Orleans statt. Es war das erste Mal, dass wir uns in Amerika auf einer Messe präsentierten.
Auch deshalb war es für mich eine große Herausforderung, diese Messe von Deutschland aus zu organisieren.
