Schoeck Canada Launches Innovative Connectionsvon Angie Tennyson
Innovative Connections was the theme for the Schoeck Canada product launch held on May 31st. The event was held at a Toronto landmark location, the Atlantis at Ontario Place, offering the best view of the city.
The placement of our product samples was the greatest challenge of the evening. We managed with the brute strength of the Schoeck Canada Leadership team. Thank you Christian and Alex for your help with the heavy lifting!
There were over 80 guests who visited the Isokorb® product education booths where they learned more about the installation of Isokorb®, the product range, how to design with Isokorb®, as well as other Schoeck products.
We began with a warm welcoming from the Mayor of Kitchener. Next, the speakers entertained and educated the audience with presentations relating to building science and thermal bridging. The speaker panel included Ted J. Kesik, Associate Professor at the University of Toronto, Peter Adams, Senior Building Envelope Engineer and Principal of Morrison Hershfield Limited, and Mario Kani, President of Sustainable Edge Limited.
Many building project examples were used during the presentations, including a few Toronto projects currently under construction, which were scrutinized for their lack of thermal performance. The building envelope report, ASHRAE’s research project (1365-RP) completed by Morrison Hershfield was also presented, and attendees were encouraged to download the report for use.
The presentations were followed by a performance from one of Canada top comedy and juggling acts, Bob Cates, who performed an impressive balancing stunt with Isokorb®. Rosa could not resist the stage, and joined in with an amazing backwards throw of a juggling pin!
Three prizes were awarded; 2 Rimowa suitcases and one BlackBerry PlayBook. The winning guests were: Shamim Sheikh, Professor from University of Toronto, Shahryar Rafiei of NCK Engineering Limited, and Terry Dawson, of CH2M Hill.
At the close of the night, after a team effort to quickly pack-up, we walked across the skywalk to the sound or screaming fans. Traffic was overwhelming from One Direction, so we walked amongst the streets to the end of a successful night.
Thank you to the entire Schoeck Canada team and the panel of speakers for your contributions.
