ComBAR® at Ecobuild 2011

von Benjamin Juette

For the first time ever Schöck Ltd will show the unique glass fibre reinforcing bar Schöck ComBAR® at the Ecobuild 2011.

The fair will be held from March 1st to the 3rd at the ExCel Exhibition Centre in London. It is the world’s largest event for sustainable design and construction.

ComBAR® is a high strength, non-corroding, non-metallic reinforcing system which is ideally suited as a replacement of black steel and stainless steel rebar when durability, life-time costs, sustainability and ecologic aspects are of importance.

The material has been installed in Blackpool, as part of the seafront restoration project, ensuring that another rehabilitation of the concrete elements set up along the promenade will not be required for many decades.

In North America, ComBAR® is being installed in bridge decks and in the barrier walls of bridges to avoid the massive problems encountered there due to the corrosion of the steel reinforcement in these elements.

As the material is non-magnetic, it is also the reinforcement of choice for home-owners who are sensitive to the disruptions of the earth’s magnetic field which steel reinforcing bars can cause.

To find out more about Schöck ComBAR® and all the problems it can potentially solve please visit Schöck at Ecobuild at stand no. 850.
