Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Green Buildingvon Shenshu Zhang - Architekt, Gastautor
The 4th Canadian German Conference on Energy Efficiency in Buildings and Green Building took place on 27th Sept. 2010 in Toronto, Canada. The conference was organized by the Canadian German Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Many german companies of building products and renewable energy participated in the event. German products and technologies interested over 100 audience, architects, engineers, developers and officials.
In the presentation, Energy Efficient Building Design in Germany and Canada – Experience of an Architect, I (Shenshu Zhang (Dr.-Ing.), Canadian architect) explained the difference between Germany and Canada in terms of regulations, design goals, design process and assessment of energy efficiency in buildings. I introduced German design principles for optimizing building energy performance with architectural design. I emphasized the importance of reducing thermal bridge effective in energy efficient building design. I described Isokorb® produced by Schöck, and how to reduce energy consumption and improve indoor environment effectively by using Isokorb®.
